Days of Our Lives fans are going to be shocked to learn that Brandon Barash is leaving the show after five years as Stefan. The 45-year-old actor’s final episode on the Peacock soap opera series will air on Monday, October 28, but he’s known about his exit for a very long time. Brandon told Soaps.com that he learned the news seven months ago! Keep reading to find out more… The actor says he was told Stefan’s departure was purely for the storyline. “I knew exactly what was happening as soon as I was called up to [the boss’] office,” Brandon said. “And she said, ‘Look, this is not my doing. I don’t like it. And this is no reflection on you or your abilities. You’re very talented. We know your work ethic is very high, but it’s just where we’re deciding to take the character.’” Brandon told Soaps.com that he “was in the middle of a contract, and it was the writers’ decision” to have him exit the show. “Of course, the ego is like, ‘Oh, OK, that hurt,’” he added. “But I walked out of the office equal parts shocked and excited about what was around the corner.” Brandon doesn’t think a return to Days of Our Lives is in the cards, but he reportedly has a meeting with Hallmark Channel lined up. “I don’t know,” he said about possibly returning. “This is the second time this has happened to me on Days of Our Lives. And, you know, it would have to be very, very right. The terms would have to be right. The story would have to be right. The contract would have to be right. And I would have to be able to trust them. And I’ve lost that. I’ve lost that ability to trust that team, quite frankly.” Check out all of the other cast changes in recent months.
