Braun Strowman is set to make his first independent appearance since rejoining the WWE in 2022.

The former Universal Champion was let go from his role during the pandemic before embarking on an independent run with Control Your Narrative. However, this promotion was largely unsuccessful and hasn’t run a show since July 2022.

This was, coincidentally, also Braun Strowman’s last appearance on the indies. He teamed with Austin Aries and EC3 to take on Dave Dawson, Zane Dawson & John Skyler. Two years later, Braun Strowman is returning to the indies for an appearance.

The WWE star will be appearing at Great Lakes Championship Wrestling Blizzard Brawl event in Waukesha, Wisconsin at the Waukesha County Expo Center. Strowman will be appearing as special guest referee for a tag team match. It sees Santino Marella and the former Damien Sandow taking on The Newest Rockers (Al Snow and Kal Herro), with Braun Strowman tasked with refereeing the bout.

The match was revealed by Lucha Libre Online on Twitter. They also noted that the show features stars from WWE, TNA, NWA and OVW. Strowman has worked for GLCW before, competing in multiple matches in 2021 and 2022 during his WWE hiatus.

Braun Strowman Wants To ‘Finish The Story’ In Current WWE Run

Braun Strowman wants to “finish his story” before he retires.

He spoke with Busted Open Radio and discussed his WWE run. He made it clear that he wanted to finish his story and win the world title in front of a crowd. (H/T to Ella Jay of Wrestling Inc. for transcription)

“After taking that vacation that I took, and then out with my neck injury and stuff like that, it gave me a whole different perspective of how special this is and how quickly it can be over.” Braun Strowman said. “It made me take a step back and appreciate all the hard work. Everything that’s been put in to get to where I am. It made me go, ‘I have to stay on the gas. I can’t let my foot off the pedal.’. This window of doing this stuff for all of us is only so big. It’s making the most out of it. And now it’s the mindset of how, how can I continue this legacy, my career? How can I further this?”

“So many people get to finish their story. Drew McIntyre talked about winning this championship in front of nobody, but how he wanted to do in front of people. I won my singles Universal Championship in front of nobody. I sure would like to do it in front of 100,000 people.”
