There have been new terror attacks in the garrison town of Basra in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
The assault commenced at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, with intermittent gunshots being fired.
According to local informants, this attack is the most recent in a string of aggressive invasions by the extremist group, which has been causing terror in Bassa for months.
“When the assault began this morning, the security forces instructed locals to remain inside as they engaged in a gun battle with the attackers,” a source revealed.
In a prior incident earlier this year, Boko Haram militants eliminated numerous soldiers, including a captain, leading to the retreat of troops from the town.
Nevertheless, with the government deploying a combined team of security forces, many residents came back to Bassa, seeking a sense of tranquility.
