Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, clinches victory in the parallel primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, securing over 301 votes to emerge as the winner among other contenders.
Meanwhile, a separate primary election supported by Governor Godwin Obaseki is pending at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
In anticipation of this crucial event, stringent security measures have been implemented to ensure a smooth and secure process.
As of Thursday morning, vehicular access to the stadium road has been restricted, with thorough inspections conducted by the Edo State Traffic Management Authority on vehicles seeking entry.
This security protocol aims to maintain order and prevent unauthorized access during the primary election.
Policemen have been strategically stationed along the road leading to the stadium, with additional personnel stationed at the entrance to vet individuals attempting to gain access, ensuring that only authorized individuals with legitimate business related to the primary election are permitted entry.
This heightened security presence follows the unrest witnessed during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election last Saturday.
