Sky Sports News presenter Pete Graves provides an update on Ruben Amorim as talks with Manchester United continue this afternoon.

It is now believed that United have sent an entourage to Lisbon to complete the deal, with reports stating that they will need to pay extra – on top of a €10m termination clause – to waive a 30-day notice period.

Talks are ongoing to sew up details of his backroom staff to ensure a smooth transition to life in the Premier League at the biggest club in the world.

Meanwhile, Amorim has yet to leave Portugal as he took training with Sporting this afternoon.

Amorim arrives having never managed outside of Portugal, but he has won two Primeira Liga trophies in his four full seasons at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Sky Sports reporter Pete Graves said: “Let’s bring you some breaking news now, and it’s an update on Manchester United’s search for a new manager.

“This is key, because we’re told that figures – high-ranking figures – from Manchester United are in Portugal right now in negotiations with Sporting Lisbon over their pursuit of Ruben Amorim as Erik ten Hag’s successor.”

Fellow presenter Olivia Buzaglo went on to add that the talks were based on the backroom staff that Amorim wants to bring with him to Old Trafford. He has his trusted staff at Sporting and it makes sense that he would bring in his own men.

She added: “Sky Sports also understands that the focus on those talks remains on the backroom staff that Ruben Amorim may want to bring with him to Old Trafford.”

All of the managers before him have done the same, but it spells doubt for interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who only joined United in the summer.
