Both the prosecution and defence teams in the treasonable felony trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), have made changes to their legal representation.
Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) now leads the prosecuting team, replacing David Kaswe, a lawyer with the Federal Ministry of Justice. On the defence side, P. A. M. Ejiofor has taken over the leadership from Mike Ozekhome (SAN).
Nnamdi Kanu, currently held in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), has been brought to court this morning for the commencement of proceedings.
The court premises were heavily secured, with a significant presence of lawyers, individuals dressed in Igbo traditional attire, family members of the defendant, and other supporters.
