The Rivers State Police Command has successfully exhumed the body of notorious cultist Gift Okpara, widely known as “2 Baba,” the prime suspect in the murder of former Divisional Police Officer Bako Angbashim in Odiemudie community, Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state in September last year.
“This operation took place at midnight on Thursday, and his body was exhumed and taken to town,” revealed a police source who preferred anonymity.
Last week, the police had announced the death of the notorious leader of the Iceland cult during a joint security raid in Idu-Ekpeye community in Ahoada East. However, some of his loyalists had managed to snatch his body and escape with it.
Operatives, acting on intelligence, raided the hideout of the cult leader’s loyalists, leading them deep into a forest where his remains were buried.
A trending video captured the moment operatives, illuminated by torchlights, excavated the ground in an effort to recover the decomposing corpse.
In response to the development, the state police command has scheduled a media briefing at 11 am today to provide details of the recovery of the late 2 Baba’s body to journalists.
