Armed policemen deployed tear gas against the 16 members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Plateau State House of Assembly, who were ousted by the Court of Appeal.
The incident occurred on Tuesday. The lawmakers, along with their supporters, had gathered at the Rayfield Old Government House in Jos, intending to resume plenary when the incident occurred.
Security forces, including policemen, assumed control of the Government House premises, obstructing the sacked lawmakers’ access to the House of Assembly chambers. Despite this, the lawmakers remained adamant about not leaving the premises.
