Soldiers have reportedly arrived at the mini-palace of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who was dethroned by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Thursday.

After Governor Yusuf signed the repealed Kano Emirates Council Law, he instructed the sacked Emirs to vacate their palaces within 48 hours.

While other Emirs complied with the directive, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero returned to Kano on Saturday, with his arrival sparking fervent support from his followers at the Aminu Kano International Airport.

As he was greeted by his supporters, they chanted a verse from Surah Al-Fatihah, and some expressed prayers for his victory.

Despite Governor Yusuf’s order for his immediate arrest, accusing him of creating tension in the state, Ado Bayero proceeded to the mini-palace at Nassarawa, where he observed the Subhi (dawn prayer).

In response to Ado Bayero’s return, Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, stated that Ado Bayero was allegedly smuggled into Kano in an attempt to forcefully reclaim his position.

Observing the situation, a team of soldiers moved into the palace at Nasarawa, where Ado Bayero resides. Though security operatives initially accompanied Ado Bayero from the airport to the mini-palace, the deployment of additional troops to the palace of the deposed Emir remains unclear.

Deputy Governor of Kano, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, accused the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, of facilitating Ado Bayero’s return, alleging that two jets were provided for this purpose.
