It ended Brentford 2 Newcastle 4.
The home side making a spirited start and forcing early pressure but once Newcastle got into stride, only one winner.
Some fine football played as the sun beat down, United racing into a 3-0 lead at the break and it could have been more.
Brentford making a fight of it when scoring a couple of decent goals of their own, however, a two goal winning margin was the least that Newcastle deserved as Bruno made the final stages comfortable with United’s fourth.
Looking at the individuals in black and white, interesting to get an independent perspective on how this played out.
‘Whoscored ratings use data from every single Premier League match, over 200 raw statistics included in the automated calculation of a player’s rating, weighted according to their influence within the game.

Now whoscored have published their independent player ratings for this Brentford 2 Newcastle 4 match:
(The Whoscored graphics can only show four subs at any one time, Almiron getting a 6.3 rating from them)
As you can see, Newcastle United with the two highest rated players in the match.
Bruno (9.0) pipping Alexander Isak (8.7) for their MOTM.
Though to be honest, I would have had it the other way round. Bruno excellent but Isak really on top of his game and destroying Brentford in the first half with his movement and trickery.
Four more players got a rating of 7.0 or higher, three of them for the away side.
Murphy (7.5) and Barnes (7.4) up front with Isak, Longstaff (7.2) also having a decent game.
I thought a good performance all round and Joelinton (6.9) and Hall (6.8) certainly deserving of far higher ratings.
