Nottingham Forest have had a £22million offer for Yoane Wissa rejected, talkSPORT understands.

That offer falls significantly below Brentford's asking price for the forward.

It's understood that Wissa is one of a number of targets being considered by Forest this month.

Thomas Frank was asked by talkSPORT's chief football correspondent Alex Crook about Forest's hopes of signing Wissa this month.

And the Dane, in his usual entertaining style, replied: "Good luck! That will not happen."

The 28-year-old has been in electric form for Thomas Frank's side this term, scoring 12 goals in 23 matches.

However with a contract that expires in the summer of 2026, Brentford are in a slightly vulnerable position.

Forest are keen to strengthen their attacking line as they look to continue their push for European football.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have enjoyed an incredible campaign so far and are currently sitting in third spot in the Premier League.

That includes a run of seven wins in their last eight league fixtures.

As well as being well-placed to play Champions League football next term, they're also only six points behind league leaders Liverpool.

That means that they could be credible title challengers in the months ahead.

However talkSPORT understands that Brentford have no intention of selling Wissa this month.

Wissa has been the Bees' star man this term alongside Bryan Mbeumo, who talkSPORT revealed in November was valued at £50million.

Signed from French side FC Lorient in August 2021, Wissa has scored 41 goals in 133 appearances for Brentford, contributing nine assists in total.

With 11 goals this term, only Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer, Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, Chris Wood and teammate Mbeumo have scored more this season.
