Bryan Mbeumo has emerged on the radars of Arsenal and Newcastle after a brilliant start to the season for Brentford.
The Cameroon international has been impressing for the Bees since they were promoted to the Premier League in 2021 but he is enjoying easily his best campaign this time around.
The 25-year-old has scored eight goals in just nine league games, including two in the dramatic 4-3 win over Ipswich on Saturday.
His previous best goal tally over a Premier League season was nine, so the forward is on course to smash that record this time around.
Unsurprisingly his performances have the caught the eye of bigger clubs, with the Gunners and the Magpies both credited with interest in him.
Football Insider reports that Arsenal are impressed by his versatility, offering an option up front, behind the striker and on the right flank.
The Telegraph report that Newcastle would like to make a January move for Mbeumo, but are operating under quite tight spending restrictions and would have to sell to finance a deal.
Brentford would certainly not let Mbeumo go cheaply, with his current contract running until 2026 and the club holding an option for a further year.
However, they would not be surprised if big clubs come calling as manager Thomas Frank himself tipped his forward for a move.
Speaking last month, Frnak said of Mbeumo: ‘There is always room for improvement, but he’s on fire.
‘Last year he was on track to score 15 goals and get 12 assists or something like that but got injured in December.
‘He’s added another layer this year. Five goals in six is incredible plus he’s still creating chances and opportunities. He’s working so hard for the team.
‘For me, he’s a top player. I’m convinced one day he will play for a bigger club; I will definitely buy him if I was at a bigger club.
‘He’s very happy here. Maybe some players need to leave us one day, but a lot of the players here are very happy because we have a top environment with good people, staff and players.’
