Not so much. For decades, WWE has presented all kinds of events throughout the course of a year. While many of these events have been televised, there have been several which have been exclusively for the live audiences. Those events have often been used mainly for in-ring practice for the wrestlers, but now one of the company’s new bosses has a different idea of how to run things.

TKO President Mark Shapiro spoke at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference this week, discussing the company cutting back on WWE live events. Shapiro said that WWE is cutting “low-margin, marginally profitable” untelevised events, saying they are taking WWE to every city possible to help grow the WWE brand. The company held about 300 events in 2024, about 250 this year and have plans to hold about 200 next year. WWE will still run select live events, including their annual Holiday Tour.

WWE live events have been good while they lasted. Check out some of them over the years:

Opinion: As much as I enjoy going to WWE live events, it makes sense for the company to want to cut off shows that are only making a bit of money compared to events that can make much more. If nothing else, this is more time that wrestlers can rest their bodies and take away the risk of injuries. WWE’s new owners are doing well so far and this might be the next move they make for things to go even better.
