Britney Spears kicked off a new week by issuing a mea culpa.
The “Overprotected” singer apologized Monday morning for some of her memoir’s content that may have rubbed the subject’s of her tome, “The Woman in Me,” the wrong way.
“If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry…” she wrote on Instagram.
In a shocking twist, Spears then gave a shoutout to ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake following the release of his new single and appearance on “The Tonight Show.”
“I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song ‘Selfish 🌹 It is soo good,” she wrote, adding, “and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard ???
“Ps ‘Sanctified’ is wow 🤩 too,” she shared of the new tune Timberlake, 42, crooned on “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend.
Spears’ comments come as her diehard fans have been streaming her 2011 song “Selfish” to usurp Timberlake’s track on the charts.
The pop star’s esoteric tune from the deluxe edition of her album “Femme Fatale” entered the Top 40 of the US iTunes chart last Thursday, the same day Timberlake released the first offering from his forthcoming album, “Everything I Thought It Was.”
Spears’ “Selfish” reached No. 1 by Friday afternoon as Timberlake’s fell from the top spot to No. 3.
The “Toxic” singer’s fanbase has taken issue with the “Mirrors” crooner ever since he put her on blast in his 2002 single “Cry Me a River” for cheating on him.
The hatred renewed — if not increased — after Spears revealed in her bombshell-laden memoir that she had an abortion while dating the former *NSYNC member because he “wasn’t happy” about the pregnancy.
Timberlake and his wife, Jessica Biel, have remained out of the spotlight since the release of Spears’ book, as they’ve been harassed by the Britney Army.
