Britney Spears’ sons have ‘forgiven’ grandfather Jamie for actions that led to restraining order: They ‘miss’ him

Britney Spears’ sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, have let bygones be bygones when it comes to their maternal grandfather, Jamie Spears.

“The boys miss their grandfather,” Kevin Federline’s longtime attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, exclusively tells Page Six Tuesday. “They have forgiven him.”

In August 2019, Jamie was accused of getting into a physical altercation with his grandson Sean Preston, who was 13 at the time.

The patriarch allegedly broke down a door to get to the teenager during a fight and grabbed him, but there were no bruises left on the young man.

The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office eventually decided to not criminally charge Jamie over the incident but a restraining order was put in place at the time.

“It was not Kevin’s desire to see [Britney’s father] Jamie Spears be prosecuted,” Kaplan exclusively told Page Six at the time. “The police report that he initiated was only for the purpose of obtaining protection orders for the children and those remain in place.”

However, now that it’s been five years since that incident took place, the Los Angeles-based lawyer tells us the restraining order “expired on its own terms.”

“There’s no restraint between Jamie communicating with them or them communicating with Jamie,” Kaplan confirms.

When asked whether Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17, are in communication with Jamie, 72, he adds, “They have been speaking with him.”

A source also told TMZ Sunday that the boys allegedly have plans to go see their grandfather in Louisiana.

Kaplan was unable to confirm the reported trip but said that Federline, 46, would not “oppose” the visit and the former DJ is “supportive” of his sons reconciling with their grandfather.

It’s unclear what brought about this reconciliation and whether Jamie’s health issues played a factor.

Britney’s former conservator had his leg amputated in November 2023 after a knee replacement caused him to get a “terrible infection.” He then became wheelchair-bound as a result.

Multiple sources previously told Page Six that Britney, 42, did not want to make amends with her dad despite his declining health but the Princess of Pop then appeared to throw her old man an olive branch.

In December 2023, Britney posted a series of throwback photos with her father but did not caption them.

Federline, for his part, has said that his sons have been open to reconciling with Jamie since 2022.

“I would absolutely welcome Jamie Spears back in the boys’ lives. Especially if that’s what the boys wanted,” he said on the UK’s ITV at the time.

“People make mistakes. I feel bad for him. I feel like he’s been put through the wringer.”

Sean Preston and Jayden James have also gotten on a better path with their famous mom after being estranged from her for some time.

Page Six exclusively reported last August that the boys had reconnected with Britney a few weeks earlier.

Kaplan also confirmed to us in June that Sean Preston and Jayden James had spoken with the “Gimme More” singer for Mother’s Day, calling it a “step in the right direction.”

He noted, however, “It’s a process that takes more than just a phone call to accomplish.”

Britney’s reps did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment on her sons speaking to Jamie.
