Broadway ‘Othello’ With Denzel Washington & Jake Gyllenhaal Adds Andrew Burnap, Anthony Michael Lopez, Daniel Pearce And Kimber Elayne Sprawl

EXCLUSIVE: The Broadway revival of Othello starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal has added to the cast with Andrew Burnap (The Inheritance, Disney’s upcoming live-action Snow White), Anthony Michael Lopez (Our Town, Camelot), Daniel Pearce (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) and Kimber Elayne Sprawl (Girl from the North Country).

The four will play, respectively, Cassio, Roderigo, Brabantio and Emilia. They’ll join the previously announced Washington, who plays Othello, Gyllenhaal (Iago) and Molly Osborne (Desdemona).

The new castings were announced today by producer Brian Anthony Moreland. Complete casting will be announced soon.

The production will begin previews Monday, February 24, 2025, at Broadway’s Barrymore Theatre, with an opening night on Sunday, March 23. The limited 15-week engagement runs through Sunday, June 8.

The production’s creative team will feature Derek McLane (scenic design), Dede Ayite (costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting design), Justin Ellington (sound design), Mia Neal (hair and wig design), and Claire Warden (intimacy director).

In addition to The Inheritance (he won the Tony) and the upcoming Snow White, Burnap will be starring alongside Nate Mann and Shay Mitchell in The Up and Comer, a thriller directed by Chris Long. Last year he starred as Arthur in Camelot at Lincoln Center Theater. Other credits include The Front Room, WeCrashed, and Under the Banner of Heaven.

Lopez’s stage credits include Light Shining in Buckinghamshire and The Artificial Jungle, and TV and film includes Survival of The Thickest, The Gilded Age, and Mapplethorpe, among others.

Pearce’s stage credits include Machinal and twelve productions with the Public Theater, most recently playing Polonius in last summer’s Hamlet in Central Park directed by Kenny Leon. Film and TV includes The Last Thing Mary Saw, Salt, Invisible Sign, Godzilla and The Good Fight, among others.

Sprawl’s Broadway credits include playing Nessarose in Wicked (20th Anniversary Cast), A Bronx Tale, Home, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. TV includes East New York, That Damn Michael Che and Inside Amy Schumer.
