Bron Breakker keeps a level head despite being on the receiving end of praise.
Breakker recently spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard about receiving so many compliments from WWE Legends. Hulk Hogan sees Breakker as the next “guy” like a “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Goldberg told Chris Van Vliet that he spent a lot of time with Breakker, and knows the business well.
Even Sami Zayn, who Breakker beat for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam, said Breakker has all the tools to be a main player in WWE if he stays the course.
Breakker really appreciates those comments but doesn’t let them inflate his ego. He has a lot he wants to accomplish, and he tries to stay grounded as best as he can.
“I am really thankful and appreciative of all of the kind words from all the huge names that you mentioned. I don’t let it blow my head out or get to think that I am really good or some crap,” Breakker explained. “Because I know I have a lot of work and a long way to go. Because I want to have a long illustrious career.
“I have a lot of goals. So, any time those names that you mentioned or anyone who’s been in our industry before that has done great things that mention me or anything is positive and is great,” he continued. “So, I really appreciate that stuff. I just don’t let it — I don’t get a big head or anything off of that stuff. [I] stay grounded.”
Bron Breakker on his goals
Aside from focusing on the Intercontinental title in recent months, Breakker was asked if there was a specific goal he began his year with to gauge his success. Breakker said he really focused on being undeniable, and he felt that included any championship scenario.
“I don’t have a specific [benchmark]. Before I was in the Intercontinental Championship discussion, there wasn’t a specific goal. [It] was just, ‘How can I be undeniable’ to be where they cannot deny me to be in a championship picture of some sort. And you know I think that’s what I did. I got to a point where you can’t. There’s just no way you can put me in any other scenario where I can be denied, or [put me in anything] other than a championship one. So, I put myself in this position. I’ve earned it.”
Breakker called SummerSlam the biggest match of his life, and they’d see how he handled the pressure. Now the Intercontinental Champion, it looks like Breakker is handling it just fine.
