Bronson Reed hasn’t had the best of times this year as he missed Elimination Chamber as well as WrestleMania 40, but he hasn’t let all of that faze him. With that said, Reed has now confirmed plans for him to compete for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, which were ultimately cancelled.
Seth Rollins was sidelined with an injury from mid-January to March 2024, during which he did not defend his World Heavyweight Title on television. Reports surfaced that “Big” Bronson Reed was set to face Rollins in what was likely meant to be Rollins’ final World Title defense before WrestleMania 40. The match was planned for Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia, giving Reed the opportunity of a lifetime to compete for the title in his home country.
In an interview with Nine.com.au, Bronson Reed confirmed that he was originally set to face Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Title at Elimination Chamber. Reed expressed that it was tough news to handle, as he had been informed that the match was happening, only for WWE to cancel it due to Rollins’ injury.
“”It was tough … I’ve gone on record to say that match was set. The people that make the matches had told me I was facing Seth Rollins in Australia, which is dream stuff. Unfortunately, Seth got injured and I never forgot that.”
Bronson Reed would ultimately destroy Seth Rollins on Monday Night RAW last month and put him on the shelf. Regardless, only time will tell whether Reed will ever get a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship somewhere down the line, as fans feel he deserves it.
