Brooke Shields is addressing all things aging.
The longtime actress and model, 59, is set to release her new memoir, “Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old” ($21) on Tuesday — and she’s having some frank conversations about beauty standards in Hollywood.
On Monday, Shields promoted her latest project on “Good Morning America,” where she spoke about what it’s like growing older in the public eye.

ABC“It’s important to understand where you’ve been, but I think it’s really joyous to say, ‘I may not know where I’m going, but I’m here. This is a different age than it used to be,'” she explained on the show.
“And yeah, I want to look my best, and I want to be healthy. Again, I always say, ‘I wish things were a little higher and tighter,'” Shields joked while moving her hands in an upward direction below her chin.
The “Pretty Baby” actress then brought up her two daughters, Rowan, 21, and Grier, 18, explaining, “I look at my gorgeous baby girls, and they’re just buoyant.”
“But by the same token, I’ve earned everything I have on my face,” Shields added. “It’s important to pat yourself on the back and say, ‘What do you want to do now? You’re no longer tied to biology in the same way.”
“And yeah, I want to look my best, and I want to be healthy. Again, I always say, ‘I wish things were a little higher and tighter,'” Shields joked. As the hosts laughed and advised Shields to ignore the comments, she mentioned a second one: “Well, where is your mother?” another person asked.
Shields responded on the show, “Dead … she is dead,” adding, “But I thought boy, we’re all so out of touch. We need to find joy in this.”

“Once you reach this era in your life, you realize all of a sudden your hair and scalp have different needs,” she told Vogue over the summer.
“Women were sharing that their hair had become more brittle or was thinning,” she told the publication. After some research, I realized there was this white space for women over 40 when it came to their hair.”

“I am all for any of it if it truly is done for yourself, for the right reasons, and gives you a level of some kind of confidence that you need,” she said when asked about her thoughts on cosmetic procedures.
“I’m scared of not looking like myself; the times that I’ve had Botox, I end up with this Spock eye and I’m like, ‘I don’t look like myself,'” she explained.
“But I’ll get Fraxels, and peels, and whatever the newest thing is, and I’ll try it,” she said, adding, “I just don’t want to not look like myself.”
