EXCLUSIVE: The upcoming Bruce Springsteen movie, Deliver Me From Nowhere, is continuing to add to ensemble as sources tell Deadline that Paul Walter Hauser is in negotiations to join movie. While not confirmed, sources say he will play long time guitar tech Mike Batlan in the 20th Century biopic. Jeremy Allen White is set to play Springsteen with Scott Cooper directing the pic which tells the story of the making of the classic Springsteen album Nebraska.

20th Century had no comment.

20th Century closed a deal this past April to finance and distribute the pic which follows the rock n roll genius who after grappling with personal demons and trying to wrap his arms around becoming a global superstar, Springsteen wrote and recorded Nebraska, the 1982 album that rivals Joni Mitchell’s Blue as one of the most emotionally raw, dark and honest albums in recent music history.

Scott Stuber, in his first move since exiting as longtime Netflix Film head, is producing with Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein & Eric Robinson.

Batlan was the long-time guitar tech for Springsteen, who in the rockstar’s early days had Baltan build a recording studio in the bedroom of his apartment. He would eventually have him be one of his main tour tech guys in the 70s and early 80s.

As for Hauser, since winning the Emmy for his incredible performance in the Apple limited series Black Bird, he has been busy setting up that future slate starting with playing Chris Farley in the new biopic The Chris Farley Show. The package, which has him starring and Josh Gadd directing sold to New Line earlier this year in a monster deal that lines up for another possible award season run for Hauser. He also recently landed a secret role in Marvel Studios Fantastic Four movie.

He is repped by CAA, Artists First and Schreck Rose Dapello.
