Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has admitted he is “perfectly aware” that he has not been at his best so far this season.

Fernandes, who played a key role in United’s 4-3 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday, was speaking while on international duty with Portugal.

The Portuguese Magnifico has two friendly matches coming up against Sweden and Slovenia and we’ll be hoping that he can avoid any knocks or niggles ahead of a busy end to the season for United.

“At Manchester United it hasn’t been a successful season individually,” Fernandes told reporters, as quoted by The Mirror. “I am perfectly aware that I have the capacity to do more and better, as always.

“But I’m not worried about that at the moment because what I always say is that my commitment and dedication is always at its maximum, regardless of whether I represented Portugal or Manchester United.

“That’s why I’m calm about it and knowing that the quality of my performances can always improve.”

Fernandes played an unfamiliar role as an emergency centre-back in extra-time against Liverpool as the Reds clawed their way back into the game on multiple occasions.

Even though we know his performances could improve, Fernandes is one of those important players who will carry out any instruction set by the manager and he proved that yet again over the weekend.
