Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly expressed interest in Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes to compensate for the loss of Kylian Mbappe.

PSG lost Mbappe as a free agent in the summer transfer window, with the Frenchman having fulfilled his long-held dream of joining Real Madrid. According to L’Equipe, the Parisians are now looking to make up for that loss of firepower by luring Bruno Fernandes to the Parc des Princes this summer.

Fernandes has been a key player for Manchester United since joining the club from Sporting in the winter of 2020. He has put in some fantastic performances despite the Red Devils’ struggles in recent years and has reportedly considered leaving the club, which is why he has been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich and Al-Nassr this summer. According to a report from TEAMtalk earlier this month, United have also given the Portuguese midfielder the “green light” to begin talks with Saudi Arabian clubs.

Bruno Fernandes in Paris?

In 2021, then PSG coach Thomas Tuchel had praise for Fernandes despite him only being in the spotlight for just over a year with the Red Devils. The German coach revealed that he had asked the club to try and sign the midfielder before he left for Old Trafford.

He stated : ” With my first sports director in Paris, Antero Henrique, a Portuguese sports director, who knew (Fernandes) very well. We fought to connect with him and bring him into our team. So we watched more and more of his games, we followed him and we tried to be in contact with him to make that happen.

“It’s obvious he made up his mind (to sign for Man Utd) and I’ve never been in contact with him personally, but we tried and he went in another direction. (It’s a shame for us to have to play him.) At present, it seems unlikely that the Manchester United captain will leave Erik ten Hag’s side. However, given the squad overhaul led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, the Portugal international could be allowed to leave if the club so desires.
