Bryan Danielson and Will Ospreay had a match-of-the-year contender at AEW Dynasty in St. Louis last month.
All Elite Wrestling‘s Bryan Danielson recently sat down with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. When asked about his match against Will Ospreay at AEW Dynasty, Danielson praised the crowd they wrestled in front of that night and admitted he isn’t sure he’ll ever get to wrestle in front of a crowd like that again.
“The second I walked out, I knew that the crowd was there in a way you don’t get in many matches,” Bryan Danielson said. “Regularly throughout that match, I just closed my eyes to take in the sensation of what that felt like. It’s a beautiful thing to experience, and to experience it like that, it was a sensation across my whole body. I don’t know if I will ever wrestle in front of a crowd like that again.”

The finish saw Ospreay hit Danielson with Tiger Driver ’91 before hitting him with Hidden Blade to win the match. After the match, Danielson appeared to be injured, and The American Dragon spoke about a point in the match when he landed directly on his head.
“All the risky things were safe,” Bryan Danielson said. “One of the things I wasn’t worried about at all ended up hurting my neck the most. That was when I gave Will a Frankensteiner off the top, and he landed on his feet. Luckily, no one was paying attention to me because what Will had done was spectacular. I went straight down on my head.
“I have a history of neck issues. Even just taking a shoulder tackle or body slam is hard on your neck. Then you add more complex moves like the Storm Driver, to finish the match, and if you hurt your neck early in the match, it doesn’t bode well for you.”
When asked about the possibility of having a rematch with Ospreay down the line, Danielson teased that it’s certainly possible.
“Chapters can be completed,” Bryan Danielson said. “There are always new chapters to be written–if that’s the desire of everybody involved.”
