The American Dragon Bryan Danielson achieved another milestone in his career this past weekend. He managed to make Swerve Strickland tap out to be crowned the new AEW World Heavyweight Champion.
Danielson has now captured the top prize in every major promotion he has competed in. Among his long list of championships, one of his most notable ones was when he was the WWE World Heavyweight Champion towards the end of 2018. Danielson had turned heel in order to win the title. He hit a low blow on the then-champion AJ Styles and hit his running Busaiku Knee Strike to get the win.
As the newly crowned WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Bryan Danielson claimed himself to be the Planet’s Champion. He also had a custom ‘Eco-Friendly’ championship title.
Recently, while speaking to Kenny McIntosh of Inside The Ropes, Danielson reflected on his run as the Planet’s Champion and claimed that he had so much fun as he was showing the people a version of his real-life persona.
“I had so much fun, that was so much fun. Because, you know, we all have different aspects of our personality, right? There is very much a part of me that is like The Planet’s Champion. Except instead of putting that scorn on other people, I don’t look at people and be like, ‘you should be doing this, or you should be doing this.’ I look at myself and think ‘I should be doing this, I should be doing that, I shouldn’t be consuming as much.’ So it’s like yeah, all that stuff that was twisted on the American fans was actually my own self-loathing [laughs],” Bryan Danielson said.
Danielson lost the WWE Championship to Kofi Kingston at WrestleMania 35.
