Bundesliga giants growing desperate to offload Barcelona target – report

According to a report from SPORT, RB Leipzig are growing increasingly anxious as time passes without the completion of Dani Olmo’s transfer.

The club had assured the player that they would not impede his departure if a club meets the €60 million release clause. Although this clause expired on Saturday, Leipzig remain committed to honouring their promise and will not raise the price.

Interestingly, no club has yet met the €60 million asking price. The reason is that Olmo’s preferred destination is Barcelona. However, the Blaugrana can not afford the transfer until they comply with the 1:1 Financial Fair Play rule.

Leipzig want a quick solution

According to reports in Germany, Leipzig are “on the edge” because replacing Olmo is their top priority. They will be without their number 10, and the season’s start is approaching rapidly.

This sense of urgency on Leipzig’s part could benefit Barcelona, allowing them to negotiate a more financially manageable deal.

For example, Barcelona might propose an initial payment of €50 million, with the total amount potentially exceeding €60 million based on performance-related bonuses, such as titles won by the club or personal achievements.

Nevertheless, Barcelona can’t afford to delay too much, as Olmo has other offers and might lose patience as the start of the major leagues draws near.

Olmo has a massive market

For what it is worth, Olmo’s primary market is the Premier League, where Manchester United would sign him immediately if they had the opportunity.

Chelsea and Manchester City, the latter being a club he nearly joined last summer, are also very interested in him. Despite this, Olmo is holding out hope that Barcelona will make the move.

Negotiations between Olmo and Barcelona have been ongoing for some time. Deco’s view is that for €60 million, Barcelona would acquire a player capable of performing in multiple positions: both wings, as a midfielder, or as a false nine. In his eyes, Olmo is a complete player.

As things stand, Leipzig’s desperation might provide Barcelona with an opportunity to secure Olmo’s signature at a price they can afford, but they must act swiftly to avoid losing him to other interested clubs.
