The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has been recognised as the “Best Federal MDA in Innovative Use of Technology” for 2024 by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms.

This is according to a statement on Saturday by the Ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Salisu Haiba.

Haiba said the accolade was presented to the Minister, Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, during the Nigeria GOVTECH Public Service Awards held on October Friday in Abuja.

At the gala event, the minister was also awarded the “Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer Award,” acknowledging his leadership in integrating technology into public service.

Director General of BPSR, Dr. Dasuki Arabi stated that the awards were given “in recognition of the Ministry’s outstanding leadership in advancing technology initiatives and digitisation programmes that contribute to the digital transformation agenda in the public sector and enhance service delivery.”

The BPSR highlighted the launch of the innovative Online Renewed Hope Housing Portal as a key achievement.

This platform, accessible at www.renewedhopehomes.fmhud.gov.ng, has streamlined the housing application process for Nigerians, making it “a transparent, easy-to-use, integrated web-based application for the sale of homes, from payment application,” he said.

The Ministry’s Electronic Certificate of Occupancy Technology System was also praised for simplifying and securing the title issuance process for federal real estate, enhancing transparency and efficiency.

In his acceptance speech, Dangiwa expressed gratitude to the BPSR, stating, “On behalf of the management and staff of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, I would like to thank the Bureau of Public Service Reforms for selecting our Ministry as the ‘Best Federal MDA in Innovative Use of Technology.’ We are truly delighted that our efforts to leverage technology to improve service delivery have been recognised.”

He also acknowledged the contributions of the Permanent Secretary, Dr Marcus Ogunbiyi saying, “You all made this recognition and award possible” while commending the dedicated staff for their hard work.

Dangiwa affirmed the ministry’s commitment to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda set forth by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pledging to continue their efforts in housing and urban development.
