Grammy-winning singer, Damini Ogulu better known as Burna Boy on Wednesday gifted colleague Seun Kuti a custom-made diamond chain designed in the image of his legendary father, Fela Kuti.
The youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti via Instagram on Wednesday shared a photo of the intricately designed chain, disclosing that Burna Boy presented him with the gift during their first meeting
Seun also expressed his appreciation to the singer.“From @burnaboygram with love. We actually met properly for the first time and ODOGWU send gift. Thanks bro. Big love,” he wrote.
Burna Boy has often spoken about the profound influence Fela has had on his music and career.
He once described Fela as his “inspiration and childhood hero”.
He has also rejected comparisons between himself and Fela, calling them “dishonourable”.
He said, “Fela is my inspiration and my childhood hero, so if you think comparing me to Fela is honorable, it is actually not.
“It actually makes me feel weird. Fela was Fela, and if it was not for Fela, there probably would not be any me, so I do not understand the comparison.”
