Controversial Nigerian singer, Darlington Okoye better known as Speed Darlington, has regained freedom after spending five days in detention.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Speed Darlington, also known as Akpi, was initially reported missing for three days, sparking widespread concern.

Confirming Darlington’s arrest, human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju disclosed that the singer was  arrested in Lagos last Friday and then transferred to Abuja, where he had been detained.

A viral video showing the singer in handcuffs, suggesting his arrest, later surfaced on social media

However, in a latest development, the music star was released to his lawyer on Tuesday evening after meeting the bail conditions set by the police at the intelligence response team’s (IRT) department in Abuja.

In a post via X, Adeyanju appreciated those who contributed to the singer’s release and commended the police in the IRT department for their “professionalism.”

Recall that in recent video, Speed Darlington had questioned the authenticity of Burna Boy’s Grammy award, linking the A-list artiste to embattled music mogul Sean Combs, known as P Diddy or Puff Daddy.

Burna Boy, on Tuesday morning, had tweeted on his X handle, “Who’s missing?”

Queen, Darlington’s mother, earlier pleaded with Nigerians to beg  Burna Boy to “temper justice with mercy”.
