Creative Artists Agency has named John Storey Chief Financial Officer.
Storey joins after 19 years at Asurion, a company focused on technology protection and support, where he most recently served as President of Finance and Operations. During his time at that company, he held the role of CFO for five years, among others in corporate development, strategy, and finance.
Prior to Asurion, Storey worked as a research analyst for a public equities hedge fund and as an investment banker with Robertson Stephens and Alex. Brown & Sons. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and Mathematics from the University of Virginia, and his MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford.
On his appointment, Storey said, “CAA is as admired for its market-leading position and innovation in the industry as it is for its uniquely powerful culture of collaboration and connection in service of its clients. The company is clear in its vision to create limitless opportunities for its clients and employees, and I look forward to playing a role in CAA’s continued growth to help ensure that vision.”
Stated CAA President Jim Burtson, “As CAA executes on its vision to best serve our clients by expanding into new business areas and international territories, we are excited to welcome John to our team. John is a proven leader with an exceptional track record of strategic planning and operational improvement. His accomplishments in building for growth match well with our ambitious goals.”
As Deadline reported, CAA began its process of year-end evaluations in October, leading to staff reductions said to involve 20 or more people, primarily in the film and TV departments. Last month, the agency also tapped former Hilton HR exec Matthew Schuyler for the role of Chief People Officer, bringing in Alexa Cook as Global Co-Head of Sports Property Sales and Rob DeAngelis as Chief Revenue Officer of the Sports division. Additionally, CAA’s Speakers Department welcomed a new agent in Rachel Baxter.
