Silver’s feature film Between the Temples, starring Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane, made its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, which was followed by an international premiere at the Berlin Film Festival. The movie, which scored 91% fresh with critics on Rotten Tomatoes out of the fest, follows a cantor who is in a crisis of faith. He finds his world turned upside down when his grade school music teacher reenters his life as his new adult bat mitzvah student.
The movie was sold by CAA Media Finance to Sony Pictures Classics for worldwide distribution.
The NYU Tisch School of the Arts grad counts Blind, Exit Elena and Uncertain Times as his feature credits. The latter title won the Student Critics Jury Award at the 2014 Edinburgh International Film Festival. His movie, Thirst Street, won Best Feature Film at the 2017 Denver International Film Festival.
In television, he directed episodes of the short series, Cutting My Mother, for Prime Video. The docuseries follows Silver who cuts his mother’s scenes from one of his movies; her disappointment goes beyond creative differences. In the series, the two try to repair their relationship.
