Alex Cooper defended interviewing Kamala Harris on Sunday’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast episode ahead of the politician and Donald Trump facing off in next month’s election.

The 30-year-old told listeners over the weekend that she also “reached out to former President Donald Trump to be on the show.”

She claimed, “If he also wants to have a meaningful and in-depth conversation about women’s rights in this country, then he is welcome on ‘Call Her Daddy’ anytime.”

Cooper noted that she prepared seven different versions of the interview with Harris, 59, before deciding she is most “qualified” to speak about “women’s bodies and how we are treated and valued in this country.”

The former Barstool Sports personality acknowledged that she does “not usually discuss politics or have politicians on this show.”

Despite her desire for “everybody [to feel] comfortable tuning in every single week,” she hoped her chat with Harris wouldn’t be “too different to the ones” airing every week.

“I talk about topics like mental health, relationships, sex, sexuality, trauma,” Cooper said. “Overall, my focus is women and the day-to-day issues that we face. … At the end of the day, I couldn’t see a world in which one of the main conversations of this election is women and I’m not apart of it.”

The journalist clarified that she did go “back and forth with [the] decision for awhile — to get involved or to not get involved.”

She concluded, “I am so aware I have a very mixed audience when it comes to politics so please hear me when I say my goal today is not to change your political affiliation.”

Cooper began the 40-minute interview, in which “no topic was off limits,” by asking Harris why she wanted to appear on “Call Her Daddy.”

The former attorney general replied, “I think you and your listeners have really got this thing right, which is one of the best ways to communicate with people is to be real and to talk about the things that people really care about.”

While some of Cooper’s Instagram followers expressed disappointment when she posted a clip with Harris on Sunday, many praised the “unreal” and “iconic” collaboration.

“Imagine being a woman following a woman who created a podcast for the health/interest of women and being upset that she’s interviewing a woman who might potentially become the first woman president of the United States lol,” one social media user wrote.

Cooper, who has been hosting the podcast since 2018, recently signed a $125 million contract with SiriusXM after three years exclusively distributing her show with Spotify.
