 Brave New World' Enters Reshoots, Adds Giancarlo Esposito in New Role

Captain America: Brave New World is entering its first set of reshoots and adding a new star to the cast.

The Marvel movie will be the first to feature Anthony Mackie wielding Captain America’s iconic shield after taking over the role in 2021′s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

As the project begins reshoots, it will do so with the addition of Giancarlo Esposito. Some details about the filming and his role have been revealed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Giancarlo is expected to play a villain in the movie, though his exact role has not been revealed.

Filming is expected to take around 22 days, and the outlet reported that the additional footage will include “new action sequences.” Despite rumors suggesting otherwise, this will be the first time that the movie has reshot content.

The movie has been compared to 2014′s Captain America: The Winter Soldier in terms of its tone. A teaser aired at CinemaCon revealed that Harrison Ford will be playing Thaddeus Ross and attempting to recruit Sam Wilson (Mackie) to rebuild the Avengers after Endgame.

Captain America: Brave New World arrives in theaters on February 14, 2025.
