Hoskinson suggested that the GPT-5 model may come in the next 4-6 weeks.
Charles Hoskinson, the popular Cardano founder, has reasons to believe that Artificial Intelligence (AI) company OpenAI is preparing to launch a new iteration of its GPT model. He formed his speculation based on a picture shared by Sam Altman, OpenAI CEO.
OpenAI and Its Constant Product Upgrades
This picture showed lush ripe strawberries drooping from a plant pot with succulent green leaves. Altman captioned the image “I love summer in the garden”. While this post sounds as plain as it could, Hoskinson thinks it is Altman’s way of giving members of the public a glimpse into GPT-5, a potential new model.
This has to be one of the most subtle and elegant ways to announce a product that I've ever seen. Looks like we are getting GPT5 in 4-6 weeks https://t.co/X1uJCZiobR

Hoskinson described the post as “one of the most subtle and elegant ways to announce a product”. He also suggested that the GPT-5 model may come in the next 4-6 weeks. No official statement or announcement has come up to support Hoskinson’s speculations. However, it is not out of place to expect an advanced AI model from OpenAI considering the firm’s footprint in the sector.
For the past 12 months, the renowned AI company has pushed to maintain its dominance in the industry. One strategy it employed to achieve this milestone is to constantly launch new AI tools. So far, it has released ChatGPT, DALL-E, Sora, and more including several upgrades of the aforementioned models.
The latest product launched is its search product SearchGPT which could challenge the dominance of Google. After several months of hinting at the debut of the AI tool, SearchGPT is now in its test phase. OpenAI designed it to build on its renowned ChatGPT product, aiming to transform how users engage with online information.
By deciding to employ advanced AI, ChatGPT can fetch and display web data with proper citations, setting it apart from conventional search engines.
More AI Product Launches amidst Leadership Transition
In mid-May, OpenAI announced the launch of the GPT-4o model, an AI tool designed to facilitate real-time conversations with an AI assistant. Coinspeaker pointed out this is the first major upgrade from OpenAI after the launch of the video-to-text converter Sora earlier this year.
Amongst the many operations that the GPT-4o model is capable of performing are storytelling, providing strong feedback, and helping solve a maths problem among other applications. It also offers enhancements like reduced interruptions, elimination of a multi-second delay, and the ability to recognize and communicate in various emotional styles.
Amidst these upgrades and improvements, OpenAI is caught up in a shift in its leadership team. Two of its co-founders John Schulman and Greg Brockman are stepping aside. Schulman’s exit looks like a permanent departure, while Brockman claimed that he is going on a long sabbatical until the end of the year. It remains unclear how this shift would impact the operations of the firm.
