Carmelo Hayes Brought to Tears by Real-Life Girlfriend Kelani Jordan’s WWE NXT Title Win

Carmelo Hayes concluded his tenure in NXT after defeat to Trick Williams and made his way to SmackDown, but his girlfriend Kelani Jordan remains in NXT and has seen great success there. In fact, Hayes admitted he teared up after Jordan’s NXT Women’s North American Title win.

In case you were not aware, Carmelo Hayes and Kelani Jordan are a real-life couple. At NXT Battleground last month, Jordan participated in ladder match to crown the first women’s North American champion and emerged victorious.

While speaking to WrestlingNewsCo, Carmelo Hayes shared his emotional reaction to Kelani Jordan’s win. He recounted watching the match at home, initially unsure of the outcome.

As Jordan climbed the ladder, he anticipated a possible interference but was overwhelmed with joy when she won the title. Hayes admitted he cried tears of happiness, a rare emotional moment for him, given his pride in Jordan’s hard work and dedication.

“Yeah, I was at home on the couch, and, you know, I had no idea. I didn’t know. So I’m sitting watching. I’m thinking as she’s climbing. I’m like, oh, that’s a good little help, you know, a good little almost. I’m thinking somebody’s going to rip her off. She grabbed the title, and I jumped up. I cried. I actually cried tears of joy. I’ve done a lot of cool things, and I haven’t cried. But that made me actually cry just because I know how hard that girl works. Obviously, you know, I care for that girl. But I just know how hard she works, and she earned that.”

Kelani Jordan will defend her NXT Women’s North American Championship in her first title defense at NXT Heatwave on Sunday against Sol Ruca, so we’ll have to see how she will fare in the bout.
