Carmelo Hayes wants to let his partner Kelani Jordan keep “killing it” on her own for now.
The former NXT Champion and current NXT North American Women’s Champion are currently dating. However, they have not appeared on-screen together, working separately in their current runs in WWE.
Hayes recently spoke with Emily Mae for WrestlingNewsCo, and was asked about Kelani Jordan. She asked Hayes if he wants to work with Jordan on-screen in the future, like couples such as Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch have in the past.
He noted that, while he may want to down the road, he wants to keep excelling separately as they are, rather than forcing the couple together on-screen.
“I hope so at one point. You know, she’s on her path, I’m on my path. I want her to learn and get her ground and her footing alone. I don’t want to have any sort of influence more than I have. She’s a stud, you know what I mean? She’s so good at everything that she does. I’m super freaking proud of her, and she’s killing it. And, you know, I’m killing it. So, who knows down the road? But as of right now, she’s doing her thing, I’m doing my thing, and that’s what’s working for us.”
Carmelo Hayes: I Cried When Kelani Jordan Won The NXT Women’s North American Title
Carmelo Hayes continued. He spoke about watching Kelani Jordan winning the NXT Women’s North American title in the ladder match at NXT Battleground.
The WWE star revealed he cried tears of joy, not expecting to her to win the title at all. However, he noted that she definitely works hard and earned her championship run.
“I was at home on the couch and, you know, I had no idea. It was not like I knew. So I’m sitting watching, thinking she’s just climbing. I’m like, oh, it’s a good little hope, you know, good little almost. I’m thinking someone’s going to rip her off, and she grabbed the briefcase. I jumped up. I cried. I actually cried tears of joy. You know, I’ve done a lot of cool things and I haven’t cried. That made me actually cry just because I know how hard that girl works. Obviously, I care so much for that girl, but I just know how hard she works and she earned that.”
