Carmelo Hayes says winning the WWE United States Championship is his destiny.

Former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes moved to SmackDown in the 2024 WWE Draft. Since then, he has competed in the King of the Ring tournament and the Money in the Bank match. He has also targeted the WWE United States Championship in recent weeks.

Hayes recently spoke with The Ringer’s Masked Man Show, and he shared his thoughts on potentially winning the WWE United States Championship. He stated that it was inevitable. (H/t Skylar Russell of Fightful)

“It’s inevitable.,” Carmelo Hayes said. “It’s my fate, it’s my destiny, you know what I mean? The United States championship, you look at all of the guys that held that previously, it’s the perfect first title for a guy. Especially a guy like me, who does take a lot of pride in my work rate. They talk about the mid card titles being the work rate titles, the Intercontinental and things like that.

“I definitely take pride in my work, so I want to excel in other areas as well and I think that’s the perfect title to learn. To be in that position where you have people coming after you is the perfect time to learn, that’s why I think I enjoy being champion so much in NXT because it was like, you come for me, you come for me, and that makes me have to work harder.”
