Casemiro stresses he is happy at Manchester United, as he prepares to fully recover from injury.

The Brazil captain has not played for United since the Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle at the beginning of February and it would be fair to say we’ve missed his influence on the pitch.

That said, the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo has suddenly made United fans excited about the future of our midfield – so long as the rest of it can be addressed in the coming months. The academy graduate has been the silver lining in what has been a difficult season for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Casemiro returned to the matchday squad earlier this month when United drew 2-2 with Tottenham at Old Trafford, however, he was an unused substitute on the day.

The Brazilian could make a return to the line-up on Sunday when the Reds travel to Newport County for the FA Cup fourth round.

Speaking to MBC in Dubai, the 31-year-old explained how happy he is in Manchester following his 2022 transfer from Real Madrid.

“It’s all amazing,” Casemiro said, as per ManUtd.com. “Since the first day, I was made to feel very welcome by the club, the players and the fans. I received so much love – on and off the pitch.

“It was a unique and magical experience, and I needed such an experience. I am so happy in Manchester with everything the city and the club offer me.

“I am happy with that and with helping the club improve and get back to the path of achievements. So yeah, I’m happy to play for Manchester United.”

Casemiro also spoke about short-term objectives and how important it is for the team to be winning trophies.

He added: “We have to go step by step and continue growing and achieving victories. Last year, we won a trophy [the Carabao Cup] and it’s really important to win trophies.

“I guess, at the beginning, you need a strong base and stability at the club, which is the most important thing, and, afterwards, you will move forward and think of bigger things. That’s why we have to be cautious and patient.”
