Casemiro plans to reject the opportunity to quit Manchester United in the wake of his horror show against Liverpool last weekend.

The experienced midfielder suffered the ignominy of being hauled off at half-time of a damaging 3-0 defeat that underlined his side’s difficult start to the new season.

Galatasaray are preparing to offer the 32-year-old an escape route with the Turkish transfer deadline still more than a week away.

Casemiro joined United two years ago from Real Madrid in a £70 million transfer and initially appeared to have been one of the shrewder signings of Erik ten Hag’s tenure.

Unfortunately, Casemiro’s form and fitness have deteriorated at an alarming rate to the extent whereby his manager felt compelled to take him out of the firing line and replace him with untested rookie Toby Collyer against Liverpool.

Casemiro’s place in Ten Hag’s starting XI is under even greater threat following the arrival of Manuel Ugarte who joined from PSG on transfer deadline day.

Despite the grim outlook, the Daily Mail reports that Casemiro has no intention of joining Galatasaray and is determined to fight for his future at Old Trafford.

Casemiro currently earns an eye-watering £350,000-a-week and it is understood that those astronomical wages would represent a significant stumbling block to any potential deal.

At present, United expect Casemiro to be available for their first game after the international break against Southampton on September 14.

United have been open to offers for Casemiro since last December when former football director John Murtough travelled to Saudi Arabia to gauge the level of interest.

However, there were no bids before the Saudi Pro League window closed on Monday night.
