Cash Wheeler has received a pre-trial date in his court case.
Daniel Wheeler, also known as Cash Wheeler in AEW, was previously arrested in Florida in August 2023 and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, a third-degree felony in the state. Wheeler allegedly flashed a handgun in what was “believed to be a road rage incident.” Wheeer’s attorney subsequently said that he did not know the other parties involved. As reported in February, Wheeler was heading to trial, as he pled not guilty on all charges.
Per Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Wheeler is set to stand trial before Orange County Court on May 20 on one charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. A pre-trial hearing is set for May 7, and Wheeler must appear.
If convicted, aggravated assault with a firearm is punishable with up to five years’ imprisonment, five years’ probation, and a $5,000 fine, per Johnson.
In August 2023, AEW CEO Tony Khan commented on Cash Wheeler’s legal situation. Check out his comments here.
Cash Wheeler last wrestled at AEW Dynasty, where he and Dax Harwood lost to the Young Bucks in a ladder match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Wheeler is a two-time AEW World Tag Team Champion.
