OM recorded this Saturday the defection of one of its players for a very long period.

The season has not yet started but the bad news is already starting to flow from the Commanderie. This Saturday, OM saw one of its players contract a serious knee injury.

The player in question is Ruben Blanco. The Spanish goalkeeper was injured during the friendly match between Marseille and Sunderland (2-2). According to Insider Marwan Belkacem, the ligament is affected and he should be immobilized for many months.

OM must deal with the most pressing issues

With this defection, it becomes all the more urgent for Marseille to get a new goalkeeper. The club has already confirmed the departure of its starting goalkeeper Pau Lopez. Blanco was supposed to take over the interim while waiting for a number 1 to take over the position. Half a dozen options have been explored but none have borne fruit (Jorgensen, Szczesny, Samba, Valles, etc.).

Ruben Blanco has been playing for OM since the 2022/2023 season. In two full seasons, he has only played 12 matches as a starter, in all competitions.

Marseille will start its Ligue 1 season on August 17th with the reception of Brest. It would be very clever to predict the goalkeeper who will guard the Olympique goal that day.
