CBS has announced that The Making of Gladiator II, a special examining the process of bringing the long-anticipated Paramount Pictures sequel to life, will premiere on the network at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on Monday, Nov. 18, also streaming on Paramount+.
This inside look, produced by Paramount Pictures, offers unprecedented access encompassing all aspects of production, from the grand scope of the sets — including reconstructing Ancient Rome — to characters, combat training, costumes, historical accuracy, scoring and more. The footage captured on the set of Gladiator II offers unparalleled, exclusive access to filmmaker Ridley Scott’s inner circle, and insights into his creative process.
Marking the follow-up to Scott’s 2000 Best Picture Oscar winner Gladiator, the sequel continues an epic saga of power, intrigue, and vengeance set in Ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Paul Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist. With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to its people.
Others in the cast of the action-heavy historical epic include Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Connie Nielsen and Denzel Washington, to name just a few. Daniel Scarpa’s script is based on a story by Peter Craig and Daniel Scarpa, as well as characters created by David Franzoni.
The film opens in theaters nationwide on November 22nd.
