Celta: Hugo Mallo tried for sexual abuse of a mascot

On July 11, the Criminal Court number 19 of Barcelona will host the abbreviated procedure trial of the case in which the right side, Hugo Mallo, is accused, which should have taken place at the Ciutat de la Justícia on May 25, 2023. According to the newspaper Ace, the former Celta player is under investigation for an alleged offense of sexual abuse against the Espanyol mascot in the moments before the match which took place between the two teams at the Stage Front stadium on April 24, 2019. These events would have occurred on the pitch when the two teams greeted each other as well as the two mascots. Hugo Mallo, as captain of Celta, was the first to arrive, when he touched the breasts of the parakeet under the costume.

“When Hugo Mallo arrived at the level of the two mascots, he shook the parakeet’s hand as is usually done. On the other hand, the player’s attitude then changed when he reached his height. He put his hands under the costume and touched her breasts. According to the witness, he grabbed her breasts with his hands and started making movements., indicates the complaint filed by the victim. The action is not considered sexual assault because the Penal Code in force at the time applies. The alleged victim’s lawyer and the prosecution agree to request that Mallo be sentenced to a fine of 24 months, in a daily amount depending on the assets of the accused, the payment of which would go to the State, in accordance with in article 181.1 of the Penal Code.
