Cesc Fabregas became a teen sensation after he signed for Arsenal as a 16-year-old. The Spaniard became the youngest player to ever play for the club and later became their youngest goalscorer.

On a recent podcast, Fabregas revealed that he spoke to United before leaving Barcelona as a youngster.

“I think there was some conversations with my parents, but Arsenal were the ones who went full-on,” Fabregas told the Planet Premier League podcast.

“I think (Gerard) Pique after went to United, but they were more interested in him than me. At this stage, I think they were talking to three or four players at the academy at Barcelona, but it was always Arsenal for me.”

United already had players like Roy Keane, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt playing a pivotal part in Sir Alex Ferguson’s success. Furthermore, Fabregas broke into the Arsenal team – and proved himself – during a season the Gunners had lots of injuries.

It’s a shame Fabregas didn’t come to United over Arsenal. He would have a more impressive list of honours had he made a different decision.
