The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on Wednesday, urged the Inter-Party Advisory Council to remain at the forefront of promoting good governance and political stability across the country.

Abiodun made this call while unveiling Democracy House, the new IPAC secretariat at Ijemo, Abeokuta, the state capital.

The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiu Hamzat, said, “IPAC must remain committed to its ideals of championing democratic values, fostering political unity and cooperation, upholding electoral integrity, and enhancing political participation for stronger democratic governance.”

While congratulating IPAC members on the achievement of an ultramodern secretariat, Abiodun pledged that his administration would continue to involve them as key stakeholders in building a more prosperous and politically stable state.

Speaking at the event, the Ogun State Chairman of IPAC, Abayomi Sanyaolu, described the new secretariat as a testament to Governor Abiodun’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive and progressive political environment.

Sanyaolu stated that Democracy House symbolises unity, partnership, and a collective force for promoting good governance, political engagement, and democratic participation among parties in the state.

He praised Abiodun for prioritising good governance and service delivery, pledging IPAC’s continued support for the administration’s developmental strides.

Sanyaolu, however, appealed to the governor to provide a bus to facilitate the group’s mobility and also consider employment opportunities for its members in the ongoing recruitment for the take-off of the Gateway International Airport, Ilisan-Remo.

Earlier, the National President of IPAC, Yusuf Dantalle, congratulated the state chapter on the new edifice, describing it as a “magnificent structure and a testament to the dynamic, resourceful, visionary, and progressive leadership of the state chapter.”

Dantalle urged political party leaders in Ogun State to justify the trust citizens have placed in them in the quest for a strong, stable, equitable, and just democracy.

He said, “Always bear in mind that you are the light and voice of the good people of Ogun State. To whom much is given, much is expected.

“You have a duty to defend and uphold democratic values, ensuring that due process, the rule of law, and the Constitution of IPAC are strictly followed in discharging your duties.

“Be conscious of the fact that IPAC is the umbrella body for all registered political parties in Nigeria and, as such, does not endorse any candidate or political party in an election.”
