The last eight of the Champions League were finalised earlier this week, with Arsenal, Barcelona, Dortmund and Atletico Madrid joining last week’s winners; Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Man City and Real Madrid.
Before the balls were picked on Friday morning for the quarter final draw, there was a real sense of anticipation in the room given the vast amount of underlying narratives waiting to be written – and thanks to it being an open draw where teams from the same country can play each other.
Favourites and current holders, Man City, were drawn out of the pot sixth and their tie against Real Madrid is sure to be a spectacular two-legged affair.
