The 70th edition of the Champions League has already started with the preliminary rounds, but it will enter its major phase with the group stages which will begin on Tuesday, September 17. For this 2024/2025 version, it is a small revolution with the appearance of a new format. Indeed, gone are the 8 groups of 4 teams, we go from 32 to 36 teams with the appearance of a single group. The different teams involved will play 8 matches until January 29.
Each team will receive 4 matches and will travel 4 times. They will face two teams from pot 1, two teams from pot 2, two teams from pot 3 and two teams from pot 4. However, there are some specificities: first of all, it is impossible for two teams from the same country to face each other. It is impossible to see 100% French matches between Paris Saint-Germain, AS Monaco, Stade Brestois 29 and Lille OSC. Then, it is impossible for a team to meet more than two clubs from the same country. Real Madrid will not be able to face Paris Saint-Germain, AS Monaco and Stade Brestois 29 at the same time.

French clubs have inherited a complicated draw, like Paris Saint-Germain. Luis Enrique’s players inherit Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Atlético de Madrid. The Parisians will also face PSV Eindhoven, Salzburg, Girona and Stuttgart. Lille will have a lot to do with Real Madrid, Liverpool, Juventus and Atlético de Madrid on their way.
