The draw for the quarter-finals of the Champions League could change. It is not certain whether Atlético and Real will be allowed to play in Madrid in the same week.

Is the draw for the quarter-finals of the Champions League final? While we have known the match posters since midday, it is possible that the order of matches could be changed by UEFA.

The reason ? As things stand, Atlético and Real are scheduled to play their quarter-final first leg in the same week, April 9-10. However, UEFA often takes a dim view of the fact that two matches of this importance are played in the same city, 24 hours apart.

Rennes-Arsenal had been reversed

In 2019, Stade Rennais supporters remember that their double confrontation with Arsenal had been reversed, so as not to have the match in London held on the same day as a Chelsea-Dynamo match. In this case, it is Real-Man City, drawn second, which could be modified, with the return match finally played at the Bernabeu, which the Merengues would not complain about.

But it is not systematic. AS thus recalls that two years ago, Real hosted Chelsea on April 12, and Atlético hosted Man City the next day. In reality, UEFA generally relies on the opinion of the host country, which must decide whether the necessary security conditions are met for two posters so close together to take place in the same city. The ball is therefore in the court of the Spanish authorities.
