Ahead of next month’s 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Ghana, former Kwara United manager Samson Unuanel has urged the home-based Super Eagles to emulate the Flying Eagles success at the WAFU B championship.
Recall that on Wednesday night, the Flying Eagles defeated Ghana 2-1 in the final to lift the WAFU B championship title.
Ghana will host Nigeria in the first leg between 20th and 22nd December 2024, while the return leg will hold in Nigeria a week later.
The winner over two legs will earn a slot at the CHAN 2025, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

However, in a chat with Completesports.com, Unuanel stated that the Augustine Eguavoen’s CHAN Eagles can replicate the Flying Eagles feat by beating Ghana.
“It’s a big achievement for the Flying Eagles to have won the WAFU B Championship, beating archrival Ghana in the final.
“The victory should spur the Home-Based Eagles as they face Ghana in the qualifiers for CHAN.
“I know for sure the game will be tough, but I believe the team will take inspiration from the Flying Eagles and approach the game with a winning mentality.”
