Super Eagles B will know their 2024 CAF African Nations Championship 2024 qualification foes on Wednesday, October 9, according to CAF’s announcement of the draw to be held in Cairo, Egypt.

After missing the last two editions, Nigeria is expected to participate in the tournament that will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from February 1 to 28, 2025.

The CHAN tournament is meant for players in their countries’ domestic leagues.

The first round of qualifiers will be played on the weekend of October 25 to 27 and November 1 to 3, with the second round confirmed for December 20 to 27 and December 27 to 29.

“Since its 2009 inception, the TotalEnergies CHAN tournament has been an exceptional platform for showcasing the world-class talent and quality of African football, as well as its ever-evolving landscape,” CAF said in a statement on Wednesday.

“CAF will soon communicate details and procedures for the draw.”

Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2020 edition and the previous one in 2022, which was hosted by Algeria and won by Senegal.

CAF has also reiterated the increase in the prize money of the tournament to $2m.

According to CAF, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania’s hosting of the competition also serves as an opportunity for the three nations to fine-tune their preparations for the hosting of the TotalEnergies AFCON in 2027.

They won the hosting rights ahead of Nigeria and the Benin Republic’s co-hosting bid.
