On April 5, one woman will leave Pro-Wrestling EVE forever. The question is: who will it be?
As previously announced, former EVE Champions Charlie Morgan and Alex Windsor will be pitted against each other at the upcoming Wrestle (Wo)mania event. Morgan and Windsor are no strangers to one another, as they were once friends, and later, bitter enemies. Given their history, EVE has decided to settle this rivalry in dramatic fashion, as the loser will be forced to part ways with the promotion.
Before this high-stakes match takes place, WrestleZone’s Ella Jay spoke with Charlie Morgan about her journey in EVE, which first began in May 2017. Looking back on her EVE career, Morgan notes that the promotion made her feel right at home, right away.
“EVE was the place that gave me that start in my early, early Charlie Morgan days in the summer of 2017. And it was very quickly from my first show debuting at Eve, that I felt right at home. It felt like a hand-meets-glove sort of thing,” Morgan said. “Little did I know from then on out that there would be so many magical moments and memories to come.”
Fond Memories
Morgan, of course, has accrued an impressive resume in EVE, as she stands as both a former EVE Champion and former EVE Tag Team Champion. Morgan also holds the honor of being the first “Ace of EVE” after winning the inaugural She-1 tournament in 2017. Beyond these thrilling in-ring moments, though, EVE also granted Morgan the opportunity to be her authentic self.
“One [memory] that is very prominent in my mind, that I’ll always hold very close to my heart is Dann and Emily Reed giving me the opportunity to publicly come out in regards to my sexuality,” Morgan said. “[Getting that chance to] be that spokesperson and be that person that can try and inspire others to feel comfortable in their own skin was just a really incredible experience and opportunity that I’ll always remember very fondly.”
Closing Chapter?
Looking ahead, Charlie Morgan is laser-focused on maintaining her spot in EVE, because in comparison to Alex Windsor, Morgan believes EVE is her permanent home.
“This will potentially be the biggest match of my career so far, because what is at stake and what is on the line means far more to me than just leaving EVE. I feel like without EVE, really there isn’t wrestling because that’s how much EVE means to me. So there is so much at stake here,” Morgan said. “Going into this match, the thought of losing I cannot even allow to enter my head. But the difference between me and Alex is that for me, EVE is home. And for Alex, it never has been and never will be. But it will forever be my home.”
To further ensure a decisive outcome, EVE has added the stipulations of no disqualifications and no time limit to the Loser Leaves EVE match. With this in mind, Morgan points out that anything can happen.
“My nickname isn’t ‘Fearless’ for no reason, and I think the fans can expect an all out brawl, brutality,” Morgan said. “Nothing is off limits. This has obviously been a very long time coming in regards to this match and what this match means, and how much venom and hatred there is behind these two wrestlers in Alex and Charlie. I feel that nothing is off limits, and I will certainly do everything it takes to win that match.”
EVE Wrestle (Wo)mania will emanate from the Big Penny Social in London at 8pm UK time on April 5. Fans can watch the event live on EVE’s YouTube channel.
